Doradus Technology Selects Catalytic RMS to Accelerate the Verification of Advanced Communication Algorithms

Catalytic Inc.'s Software Used To Accelerate Signal Processing Design Time

Palo Alto, Calif. –– March 8, 2006 –– Catalytic Inc. today announced that Doradus Technologies, Inc., a world-class solutions provider offering an elite combination of intellectual property (IP) licensing and contract research and development in the area of communication technology, has selected Catalytic RMS (Rapid MATLAB Simulator).

Catalytic RMS from Catalytic Inc., provider of software tools that dramatically shorten signal processing design time, works seamlessly with MATLAB from The MathWorks to provide fast simulation of MATLAB code. Doradus has been able to increase the simulation speed of its 8-VSB receiver model by more than 30 times by using Catalytic RMS. It is used to accelerate the simulation of Doradus’ leading-edge algorithmic platform for development of ATSC demodulator IP (DoraVision) for digital TV, a benefit to both Doradus and its partners and customers.

“It’s pretty straightforward; faster simulation reduces our system design and hardware verification time,” observes Hossein Dehghan, vice president of Engineering of Doradus. “We can achieve more testing in a much shorter time. And since Catalytic automatically generates an accelerated, compiled version of our IP, our customers and partners see the same simulation speed increases when using our IP in their systems.”

Adds Dave Burow, Catalytic’s chief executive officer (CEO) and president: “Doradus is at the cutting-edge of algorithm creation for communication applications. We are excited to be partnering with such an advanced customer, and look forward to providing them and their partners with greater simulation throughput to enable more rapid product development.”
