AN90 - Debugging Handel-C designs using ChipScope

Summary

As the complexity of FPGA devices increases the difficulty of designing for and testing of those designs also increases almost exponentially.  HandelC provides the solution to creating those complex designs and now ChipScope provides a way of attaching test equipment to the Xilinx devices under test.

This note will demonstrate the steps needed to create and add a ChipScope Integrated Logic Analyzer (ILA) core and ChipScope Integrated Controller (ICON) core to a basic Handel-C design.
